As editor-in-chief of this publication, this review and business listing comes after a week of frustration visiting Mercy ER, Barnes ER, and another competitive urgent care facility. I was in severe pain caused by a condition I had never experienced. After eight hours in the ER at Mercy, I had only talked to a Dr. over a tablet, and he reviewed a back x-ray and said everything was fine. I was refused water and food and left to sit in the room for another six hours before some form of human resemblance appeared, which was not human but a robot. I asked for immediate release. I didn’t want to hear that buy at all. I went to Barnes West; they didn’t have beds and treated people in the hallway. After 5 hours, I visited with a nice doctor who was more concerned about other patients than me. I had lost hope that anybody cared in a profession about care. How can we survive as a society without having a loving healthcare system?
I was miserable and scared, to be honest, because this is a profession that creates social problems due to a lack of good treatment and respect.
After researching, I discovered that they have just this one location. Sad! They should have locations across the region. If you live within 30-45 minutes, it is worth the drive to get professional health care. I can’t speak well enough of this place. It was not a turn for my pain but a turn in my mind about the perception of hope. We need as much hope as possible.
