The Hill Food Co., 2360 Hampton Avenue, St. Louis, offers multiple restaurants at one address, featuring online ordering for pickup or delivery in a state-of-the-art facility.

The Hill Food Co. is a ghost kitchen, or some refer to it as a food hall, concept on Hampton Avenue in St. Louis.  Up to twenty-two food providers can be located at the same address, promoted from one website for simplified online ordering, delivery, or pickup.  There is no dine-in space available.

The Hill Food Co. offers a state-of-the-art facility that exceeds all federal, state, and local laws regarding health and safety requirements.

A small group of affiliated people decided on a good description as a “virtual food hall.” Wikipedia has a page describing it as a “virtual restaurant.”

As editor-in-chief of STL.Directory: I have first-hand knowledge and experience regarding this concept, and this facility as my wife is a tenant.  They follow all health codes, surpassing most to avoid problems and even accept a lot of the responsibility on behalf of the tenants.  Some tenants are startup restaurants and can rely on professional guidance to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.

Our experience and perspective are that the ghost kitchen, or our chosen name of Virtual Food Hall, is that the concept is an excellent option for startup restaurants or established restaurants that want to expand into a solid neighborhood to access a larger audience of quality prospective customers.  The concept’s success will be the competence of the ghost kitchen and its staff.  There are always modifications that need to be made to improve the experience.  Still, the management is flexible and willing to accommodate to ensure their success and protect their massive investment.
